Hair loss is one of those things that nobody really wants to talk about, but everyone is thinking about it.
Thinning at the temples, a wider part line, and that moment you catch your reflection and think… when did that happen?
I’ve been there. Both pregnancies my hair started thinning and it began while I was pregnant not after… and then it got worse postpartum!
I’m six years our from my last birth and I am still dealing with it. I tried everything. The hair growth shampoos, the serums from the chemist and even the “clinically proven” stuff that promised the world. Nothing worked! Or if it did, it was so minimal you couldn’t even tell the difference.
So – we made this!
Not because it was a smart business move, because I needed it. And I figured if I needed it, so did a lot of others experiencing the same and getting nowhere with what’s out there.
The Problem:
The problem is that most of the options out there, kind of … suck. You’ve got minoxidil which works but comes with a whole stack of side effects. Prescription stuff that messes with your hormones or expensive, super expensive, clinic treatments that drain your wallet and even your soul. Or those basic “hair growth serums” that are mostly water with a bit of rosemary oil and … a dream.
As with everything that comes from helloskin, we not only wanted to make something different. We wanted to make something that will just simply work! Without the side effects, without prescription and without the BS marketing claims.
So, we created Australia’s first GHK-Cu + AHK-Cu copper peptide serum.
What Actually Is It?
Let’s break it down nice and easy.
This is a leave in scalp and hair serum with 4% total copper peptides. 3% GHK-Cu PLUS 1% AHK-Cu working together.
You might already know GHK-Cu from our peptide serum range. It’s the copper peptide that signals your cells to repaid and regenerate. Your body naturally produces it but it makes less as we age.
AHK-Cu is the lesser known one. It’s a copper tripeptide-3 and its specifically researched for hair follicle support. It’s harder to source at purity, really expensive, and most brands don’t bother with it because of this.
But we don’t care (cause you know we don’t fairy dust and bluff through amazing marketing here are helloskin) so we formulated with both! Because why would you only use one when you can get the benefits of two copper peptides working through different pathways for real results.
When we first started developing this hair regrowth serum, our lab told us it would be too hard and too expensive. We already had our GHK-Cu face serum working beautifully so we used that as the foundation and built from there. If we could get 1.2% copper peptide working in a face serum with proper delivery and stability, we could figure out how to get 4% working for the scalp! So, we kept pushing back!
It took longer than expected and yes, it cost a lot to develop it, but we were not going to launch something half done just because it was easier. What would be the point of a copper peptide hair regrowth serum if it’s the same watered-down formula as everything else out there? That’s not what our customers love about helloskin!
Enough boring you with the schematics of the cosmetic business industry and let’s talk about why we claim it as a world first!
Why This Is a World First: I am not throwing that phrase around lightly
This is the first Australian Made copper peptide hair regrowth serum with declared concentrations. The first to combine GHK-Cu AND AHK-Cu in a topical format. The first with proper delivery architecture built around the peptides, not just peptides dumped with backwater.
Most hair serums on the market either don’t tell you the concentration (red flag by the way) or they’re using trace amounts just to get the ingredient on the label. That’s called angel dusting and its everywhere in the industry – except at helloskin.
Ours is 4% total copper peptides. On the label, on the INCI so no guessing.
We are also Australian Made certified. That green Kangaroo across all our packaging means something. Formulated here, made here. Not imported from overseas with “Australian Brand” slapped on it.
So, What Is the Delivery System and Why Does It Matter?
If you know helloskin, you know we are all about transparency so here is something most brands won’t tell you:
You can have the best ingredients in the world but if they can’t get to where they need to go, they’re useless. Especially on the scalp which has oil, build up, and a barrier designed to keeps things out.
We built our copper hair regrowth serum formula with actual delivery architecture so it can penetrate that barrier for real results:
Sunflower Lecithin + Cholesterol
These ingredients create a liposomal style carrier system. Think of it like tiny delivery vehicles that help the peptides move through the follicles of the scalp instead of just sitting on the surface of the scalp.
DMI (Dimethyl Isosorbide) + Ethoxydiglycol
The penetration enhancer ingredients. They help open up the pathway so active ingredients can get to the follicle level where they actually get to work.
The delivery system of any topical product is the most complicated, and most expensive part of formulation. Most brands choose the easier, cheaper route and throw some ingredients in water and call it “active” serum. This is why the delivery system matters. You can have 10% copper peptides in a product but if they’re just sitting on your scalp going nowhere, you’ve wasted your money, and your time.
Our copper peptide hair regrowth serum’s delivery system makes this formula actually work. It’s what separates a real clinical serum from a pretty bottle with nice marketing on the packaging.
Now Let’s Talk About Minoxidil
If you’re dealing with hair loss, you probably have heard of or investigated minoxidil. It’s the most common treatment out there, and it works for some people.
But as we always do, let’s tell you what nobody tells you upfront.
The Dreaded Shed
When you start minoxidil your hair often gets worse before it gets better. You lose more hair in the first few months than you have in a year. It is temporary but it freaks you out because you might have started on it to reduce shedding and thinning in the first place, right?
Scalp Irritation
Itching, dryness, flaking, all very common. But who wants to put up with that?
Unwanted Facial Hair
Especially in Women! The minoxidil doesn’t stay where you put it and suddenly you are growing hair in places you didn’t want it!!
It’s Medication
This is a big one in my opinion. Minoxidil was originally a blood pressure medication. It’s a vasodilator (something that promotes the dilation of blood vessels) that works by increasing blood flow to the scalp. That’s its only mechanism AND it comes with all the considerations of using a medication long term (hello multiple other side effects).
You Can’t Stop
If you stop using it, the hair it just worked to regrow, falls out. You’re committed for life or you’re back at square one.
Copper Peptides Work Differently
GHK-Cu is something your body already produces and it works through multiple mechanisms, not just blood flow. It has been scientifically proven to signal cells to repair, reduce inflammation, support the scalp environment and activate pathways involved in hair follicle health.
And The Side Effects?
Minimal to none. Some people experience mild tingling when they first start and that’s about it. No dread shed, scalp irritation, no unwanted facial hair. No dependency.
A 2022 randomised controlled clinical trial published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment found that 0.5% GHK-Cu increased hair count by 22% over 16 weeks, compared to just 8% for minoxidil.
So, we took that and made it even better by adding AHK-Cu. While GHK-Cu is researched for skin and hair, AHK-Cu is specifically studied for hair follicles. It directly stimulates the dermal papilla cells which are basically the command centre at the base of each follicle that tells your hair to grow. A 2007 study out of Seoul National University showed AHK-Cu made human hair follicles grow significantly longer in lab conditions.
Two copper peptides, two different pathways. Both working on your scalp!
So, What’s in The Formula?
By now, you guys should know how much we love to open up about our full ingredient lists. We don’t hide anything.
Water, Niacinamide, Propanediol, Panthenol, Glycerin, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Ethoxydiglycol, Copper Tripeptide-1, Copper Tripeptide-3, Sunflower Lecithin, Cholesterol, Tocopherol, Caffeine, Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Biotin, Serenoa Serrulata Fruit Extract, Piroctone Olamine, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract, Bisabolol, Allantoin, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Benzoate Potassium Sorbate, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Phytic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide.
Let’s Break Down the highlights beyond the two copper peptides:
Caffeine + Saw Palmetto
For scalp support and helping create a better environment for the hair.
Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4
An additional hair focused peptide.
Hydrolyzed Keratin + Biotin
For hair fibre strength.
Piroctone Olamine
Helps keep the scalp balanced and healthy.
Rosemary Extract
You’ve probably seen this trending for hair. We include it as a supporting player to the peptide heroes.
Niacinamide + Panthenol + Bisabolol + Allantoin
The comfort ingredients that make this hair serum wearable every day without irritation.
Dual Hyaluronic Acid
For deep scalp hydration
And no silicones. Nothing blocking absorption so everything works together.
How To Use It
This is a leave-in scalp serum. You don't rinse it out.
Step 1:
Start with a clean scalp. Dry or towel dried hair. If you've got product build up, wash it first.
Step 2:
Part your hair into sections. Focus on the areas you care about most. Hairline, temples, crown, part line.
Step 3:
Apply directly to the scalp. Not through the hair. On the scalp.
Step 4:
Massage with your fingertips for 30 to 60 seconds.
Step 5:
Leave it in. Style as normal.
Use it daily, ideally at night so it has time to absorb while you sleep. But morning works too if that fits your routine better. Think in 8 to 12 week blocks.
The formula is water based, lightweight and non-greasy so it won’t weight down your hair or make your roots oily.
If you’ve got hair extensions, it’s totally fine to use it. Tape ins, bonds, keratin treatments, all good. Just be mindful around the actual attachment points with tape ins and bonds. Apply it directly to the scalp between the bonds, not directly on top of them. The formula won’t break down adhesives o affect your extensions. But there is no point wasting product on areas where it can’t reach your scalp.
Same goes for blow outs. You can absolutely use this and maintain your blow out. Because it’s a lightweight water based serum that absorbs into the scalp, it won’t make your roots greasy or ruin your style. Apply it at night and let it do its thing while you get your beauty sleep.
Now About The 8-12 Week Thing
Hair grows in cycles. You’ve got the anagen phase, which is the growth phase, the catagen phase which is the transition phase and the telogen phase which is the resting and shedding phase. It’s just how we’re built.
When you start using a peptide hair growth serum like this, you’re supporting follicles at different stages of that cycle. Some hair is already growing, some are resting and some are beginning to shed. You need time for the formula to penetrate and build up in the deeper skin layers to actually influence a full round of growth.
8 weeks is the minimum to start seeing changes. 12 weeks gives you a clearer picture. It’s a little bit different to skincare where you might notice hydration in a few days for instance. Hair is slower so be patient and stay consistent. And take progress photos in the same lighting on a regular basis to track the changes.
Who Is This For?
Pretty much anyone noticing thinning, shedding, or wanting to support healthier looking hair.
Specifically great for:
People focused on the hairline, temples, crown or part line.
This is where thinning often starts and where targeted scalp application makes the most sense.
Men and women.
Hair loss doesn't discriminate. Neither does this formula.
People who can't tolerate minoxidil.
If it irritated your scalp or you hated the side effects, this is a gentler alternative.
Anyone wanting to avoid prescription drugs.
No hormonal treatments. No pharmacy visits.
Anyone who wants something sustainable.
A daily routine you can actually stick with long term.
If you're under professional care for a scalp condition or using medicated treatments, check with your doctor before adding anything new.
The Bottom Line
Hair loss sucks! But the options have sucked more for way too long.
We made this because we wanted something better. Something that works without the side effects. Something Australian made with actual clinical concentrations, not watered down peptides. Something with real delivery architecture, not just marketing.
4% copper peptides. A dual peptide system. Proper hair regrowth formulation.
No BS.
